About This Project
Age of Blight is a browser-based survival RPG set in the ruins of Aethelgard, a world shattered by a catastrophic magical event known as The Sundering. Three factions have risen from the wreckage, each with a different answer to the same question: how do you survive a world that is actively trying to kill you? The game is built around a persistent shared world where your choices leave permanent marks. The economy is entirely player-driven. Territory is fought over and held by guilds. Characters who die stay dead, but their stories live on in the Eternal Chronicle. You explore at your own pace, but the world moves whether you are logged in or not. What you do matters to everyone playing alongside you, even if you never meet them in real time.
What This Devblog Is
This is where the game gets built in public. Every system, every design decision, every piece of world-building that goes into Age of Blight gets documented here before it goes into the game. If you want to understand how the combat formula works, why permadeath is framed as a legacy rather than a punishment, or how the AI fits into a game that is fundamentally about fair, hard-coded rules - this is where you will find those answers. The devblog is informal by design. These are working notes from someone building something ambitious, not press releases.
Who Is Building It
I go by Enthemu. I have spent more than twenty years in the text-based RPG world - playing, building, and designing games in a genre that most people have never heard of but that shaped online gaming in ways that are still felt today. Age of Blight is the game I have wanted to build for a long time: one that takes everything that made those old games compelling and rebuilds it for the modern web, without losing the soul of what made them worth playing in the first place. This is a solo project. That means it moves at a sustainable pace, it gets built right rather than fast, and every decision in it reflects a single, consistent vision. If you want to follow along, subscribe below. If you want to reach me directly, the best place is the community Discord once it launches.
The world broke. Survive what remains.
